| Vien Dong Saigon Hotel Reviews | |||||

Overall a very good experience, though, as we had 2 young children, it may not be suited for young families. Specifically, the design of the hotel has an open space in the middle of the hotel from the top floor to its first floor, so it's a bit scary for kids who cold climb the railing - this could be raised a little to avoid any accidents. The staffs were good, friendly & in keeping with this good 3 star hotel. Breakfast selection was okay - forget the artificial juices. My wife & I would go back. Stanley, Australia The Vien Dong Hotel suited us very well, comfortable room and helpful staff, with very good breakfast provided. The hotel was well located in a pleasant garden area close to the Ben Thanh Market, Reunification Palace and the CBD. It was across the road from the Mekong Express Limousine Bus terminus, from Siem Ream/Phnom Penh, very convenient. Robin, Australia Spent 3 nights in this hotel in July 2008. Was very happy with my room which was very quiet (a big plus in Ho Chi Minh City). The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very good. Also enjoyed the breakfast in the large dining area. The hotel is well-situated for those wanting to do tourist things around the area. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to HCMC. Eric, New Zealand Great staff good location we would stay again. Peter, Australia
The hotel
was great. The location was not too bad either. There were great markets
to eat, shop and roam about. The value is also really reasonable as
compared to other surrounding hotels and it is reasonable in a way cause
there's free breakfast, Great service and great ambience of the hotel.
However, the walk to the market is pretty confusing. So, remember to ask
for directions from the staff there! I am sure they'll be glad to help
you! The food for breakfast isn’t too bad either :) I’ll definitely
return to stay there if I ever go to Vietnam again. Both of us arrived feeling quite ill so spent a lot of time in the hotel. Room was very minimalist - probably the most boring of all our hotels in Vietnam and Thailand. The open concept in the hallways allowed for children to run and scream outside our door which wasn't welcome when we were trying to sleep through our illness. Quite central and easy walking distance to most of the sights. Tara, Canada Hotel was located in backpacker area and across the road from a grassy park (welcome relief from the traffic chaos!!!) Was a bit disappointed to be put into a room ('deluxe') with no view of outside. Hotel staffs were ok and services such as breakfast were satisfactory. The massage service could do with a little improvement (inc advising persons that a tip is expected at the end of the massage which came as an unwelcome surprise and put a damper on the occasion). Overall not a bad hotel but I would probably look for a hotel near the Rex Hotel as it is in a slightly nicer area. Nathan, Australia I had an enjoyable stay at the Vien Dong Hotel. I also stayed in another Hotel in the City which was a lot more Basic. I found the Staff very Polite and friendly the room was very clean and Good Air conditioning System. Nice restaurant and Breakfast was good. The Health Spa is worth giving a miss everyone there expects crazy tips, and as no one explains procedures, when you go in you will feel pressurised into parting with your Cash. I tended to take Taxis to the Tourist sites as the mass of Motorbikes and other traffic is a bit much for a pleasant stroll. The road outside is always busy. The Hotel is probably one of the Best in HMC. Derek, United Kingdom We stayed for 3 nights at Vien Dong in early February. We found that the facilities were good and it was clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff were extremely helpful. It was the start of the Tet festival (lunar new year), and there were decorations put in the central well whilst we were there. They were tasteful and pretty, and were lit up at night. Breakfast was OK, but dishes needed to be topped up more often as on 2 mornings the bacon tray was empty. Omlettes were good. We stayed in Saigon for 6 nights, and spent the next 3 nights at the Sheraton, because my brother works there and got us reasonable rates (although not as cheap as Vien Dong). Even though the Sheraton was fantastic, we would happily stay at Vien Dong if we went back as the price is good, the location is good - walking distance to the main shopping areas, and opposite a garden area. We were very happy with our stay there. Pauline, Australia |
